Also a co-founder of DoubleInk, Rob leads our editorial team, regarded as one of the leading reading and social studies content developers in the industry. A sage veteran of the industry, Rob has over thirty-five years’ experience as an executive, entrepreneur, and curriculum expert. In particular, he is widely consulted as expert on Pre K- 2.

Denise manages the finances at DoubleInk and brings the discipline of financial planning, reporting, and operational efficiencies to our team of very busy and creative professionals. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Liz McCarthy

Liz helps lead the editorial team with her three decades of expertise in education and educational publishing. Formerly an executive editor at Silver Burdett Ginn, Liz has managed the creation of print and digital educational products in all content areas for a wide range of audiences and clients. Trained as a teacher, with extensive experience in elementary classrooms, Liz keeps the memory of her former students (and their challenges) front and foremost as she approaches any project. Her time in the classroom informs her understanding of classroom instruction and best practices.

An expert in developing Grade K-2 content for Reading and Language Arts, Michele has honed her editing skills over many years in educational publishing. As Executive Producer at Houghton Mifflin Company and Silver Burdett Ginn, Michele managed the design and development of print and digital products in all content areas. A graduate of Harvard Ed. School’s digital learning masters degree program, Michele was a co-founder of Classwell Learning Group, an online, digital learning platform incubated at Houghton Mifflin.

John Porell

With over twenty-five years’ experience in publishing, John has managed a wide range of Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, and ESL projects. After a brief detour in advertising and public relations, John began his publishing career at Houghton Mifflin, eventually shifting to the digital world as a Senior Producer for Reading and Language Arts at Classwell Learning Group. A graduate of Harvard College, John combines his love of written words with occasional acting sojourns on stage and screen.

Peter’s career has included roles with both publishers and developers, including McClanahan & Co. in New York, Scott Foresman, Pearson Education Development Group (PEDG), PubSmarts before joining DoubleInk in 2013.

Julie has developed, written, edited, and/or managed a vast array of educational products for numerous publishers and development houses. We are especially proud that after 20 years as a highly sought after independent contractor, Julie gave up the freedom of a freelancer to join the DoubleInk team. A trained vocalist, Julie loves to sing in her local choir, which may be the perfect antidote to publishing deadlines.

She believes that a simple approach to a design problem is often the most powerful one, and is willing to push the envelope to realize that vision.

José Miguel Lopez

José Miguel Lopez

José Miguel has overseen the development and translation of content in all disciplines. Having previously worked at Houghton Mifflin Company and Hispanex, he joined DoubleInk in 2004 to help develop the Spanish and Bilingual department. Known to clients for his language expertise and to colleagues for his rambunctious, infectious joie de vivre, JM is always at the ready with recommendations for good places to eat, dance, and cut loose. He lives and works in New York City.

Magda coordinates all aspects of our composition projects, including managing production teams and working closely with other project team members and clients. Clients praise Magda for her attention to detail and ability to manage other outside vendors. With a fine-arts and graphic-design background, Magda also holds a master’s degree in art history.

Louise co-ordinates work internally across DI’s production, design, and editorial teams. She also manages our vendor database, sourcing, contracting and managing the invoices of freelancers. Her role has expanded to include project management. With DoubleInk from the early days, Louise started in Dublin, before moving to the Boston office in 2011. We try not to ask which office is her favorite....

Kitty began her publishing career quite a while ago and refuses to be more specific than that. She has written and edited everything from Vocabulary Readers to assessment passages for pre-K through college. She especially loves working for kids in grades 3 to 5—an audience old enough to appreciate wordplay, yet still too young to object to absurd plot twists.

For the last sixteen years, Natalia has worked as a Spanish editor, translator, and writer for several print and digital programs across all K–12 disciplines. Natalia has also taught Spanish at the college level.

Tim has worked as a designer in educational publishing for almost thirty years. Previously he worked (over sixteen years) at McDougal Littell/ Houghton Mifflin Company as Senior Designer and Design Manager. Tim was involved with the design, development, and implementation of numerous programs over the years. He has also had experience in the K-5 and College markets, working in all disciplines.

Sandra has worked as a Spanish editor and translator for educational publishing since 2003. During this time, she has taken part in the development of instructional products used in bilingual education in the United States at several major publishers and development houses. She joined the DoubleInk team in 2017.

Ari entered the educational profession serendipitously by coaching CBT instructors on developing complex spreadsheets and databases for use in their classes. Soon after accepting an offer to become an instructor himself, Ari assumed a position as a CBT train-the-trainer and curriculum developer.

With over ten years in the publishing industry, Giovanna is an English/Spanish translator, Spanish editor, and bilingual content developer. She has collaborated with Doubleink on several bilingual projects, editing and adapting content, in subject areas such as Reading and Math.
